After I published my last blog post, I was asked how so many languages, belonging to two language families, fit on the rather small island of Halmahera. I will answer this question in this post. A warning: The answer is more complex than one may think.
Nach meinem letzten Blogpost wurde ich gefragt, wie es sein kann, dass so viele Sprachen auf die recht kleine Insel Halmahera passen – und dann auch noch aus zwei verschiedenen Sprachfamilien. Diese Frage möchte ich in diesem Post beantworten. Warnung vorweg: Die Antwort ist schwieriger, als man meinen möchte.
